Our
Experience
In our experience ANYONE can design a
basic website, spend a few hundred pound on
equipment and then call themselves a DJ. The
question is how can you tell the
'fly-by-night' DJs from the Professional DJs?
In the early days we had some experience of
'fly-by-night' DJs, which wasn't great for us.
We then looked to have a core team of a few
highly professional DJs. After looking at what
separated out the professionals from the
cowboys we came up with a list of points, that
ensures all of our clients get a exceptional
DJ service at every event.

Important Things to check
Is the DJs equipment PAT tested?
(Portable Appliance Testing or PAT is a
certification that all equipment should carry
to comply with British Safety Standards. This
ensures that the DJ’s equipment is safe and
reliable)
Does the DJ
have PLI (Public Liability Insurance)?
(this insures you, your guests and the venue
if anything were to go wrong)
What safety
checks does the DJ put into place?
For example are exposed wires covered with
gaffer tape? Are plug sockets insulated? etc
If the DJ is unable to make it to the event
due to an emergency on the day what
contingency plan do they have?

Further
points to check
Do you receive a
service contract for the event?
Can the DJ provide
references? How long has the DJ been
DJ’ing? How many events has the DJ done?
After telling the
DJ what you want in terms of the music,
quiz the DJ on the music. Ask questions
like
"What music would you play at the
beginning, middle and the end?"
Of course the
quick way to hire a professional DJ
would be through Kill the DJ Ltd, we can
provide positive answers to all the
questions listed.
